The Cape League finalized its regular season awards on Tuesday and Y-D received a plethora of recognition following the conclusion of its President’s Trophy season with 52 points.

Ethan Petry (South Carolina) was named the Pat Sorenti Most Valuable Player and Robert A McNeese Outstanding Pro Prospect after a dominant regular season that featured him at the top of numerous offensive categories.

Petry finished the regular season leading the Cape League in on-base percentage (.480), slugging percentage (.760), OPS (1.240), extra-base hits (18), total bases (76) and tied with Brewster’s Ryder Helfrick for the most home runs at 11.

Petry posted a .360 batting average which stands third on the Cape and tallied 25 RBIs in 31 games with Y-D. The 2024 Cape League Home Run Derby champion had 12 multi-hit games with an active 19-game on-base streak.

Trevor Moore (Stanford) was given the Russ Ford Outstanding Relief Pitcher Award and led the league with eight saves. Moore didn’t allow an earned run during his 14 ⅓ innings with the Red Sox and recorded 28 strikeouts to just six walks.

Moore departed Y-D shortly after the All-Star Game but cemented himself as the top closer on the Cape with a 0.98 WHIP and a .167 batting average against. Moore allowed eight hits and went 8-for-10 on save opportunities.

Terry Hisey received the John Wylde General Manager of the Year Award for his “passion and dedication to the success of the Cape Cod Baseball League that has been achieved through, but not limited to, outstanding integrity, the highest level of ethical behavior, positive guidance toward others either within the franchise or league-wide” according to the Cape League.

Hisey and fellow Board of Directors member Chip Russo worked to piece the Red Sox roster together and ensured the Y-D organization is functioning to the highest level.
