After sweeping its doubleheader homestand, Wareham gets back to work. This time the Gatemen face the Commodores, the third seed in the West Division, for the fifth and final time of 2026.
Wareham is now in control of its playoff destiny, sitting two points above Cotuit for the fourth playoff spot in the division. If the Gatemen can run the table, they are in regardless of what the Kettleers respond with.
They controlled Spillane Field on Friday: now can the Gatemen continue that momentum on the road?
Starting Pitchers: Barfield vs. Chambers
Wareham: He was technically a starter last time Wareham went to Falmouth, playing the opener role in the continuation game after the Friday, but now Jaden Barfield (Oklahoma) officially makes his third start of the summer and second against a West Division opponent. In his last start at Hyannis he tied his season-high in strikeouts with seven and now has 32 punchouts on the summer, the most on the Gatemen’s staff.
Falmouth: The ‘Dores held the Kettleers to just three runs on Friday and stranded 10 on base. Brady Chambers (Michigan State) makes just his fourth appearance and second start of the season, but faces a dangerous Wareham lineup that tagged two divisional teams for 16 total run over the doubleheader at Spillane Field. Falmouth was run-ruled against Wareham last time, its up to Chambers and the rest of the Commodores defense to try and cool down the Gatemen’s bats.
Players To Watch
Gatemen: Wareham is going to need its veterans to step up through this final stretch, and Chase Krewson (Pittsburgh) did just that on Friday with a three-for-five day at the plate against Bourne. Those three base knocks was his highest single-game hit tally of 2026 and his second multi-hit game of the summer. Krewson and Wareham went to the playoffs in 2025, and he will be counted on for skills on the diamond and leadership off of it.
Commodores: The ‘Dores pulled through late on Friday with a 5-3 victory over Cotuit, and Nick Croce (LSU) played a major role in the victory with a three-for-four day in his first game in the CCBL. Most players struggle in their first few weeks against top level Cape League pitching, but Croce stepped in and had immediate success. He is also on the lineup card for Falmouth’s first game of the day.
