Bat Kids

The Wareham Gatemen Baseball Organization is looking for bat kids for this upcoming season. All bat kids must be age 10 or older. Bat kids will be provided a Gatemen shirt to wear during the game. The season is 40 games, 20 home and 20 away.

Being a Gatemen bat kid is a fun experience and gets you an up-close view of the game and direct access to the players and coaches.

Thank you for your interest in our Bat Kid program! The 2024 season is already underway and all Bat Kid positions for this season have been filled. We have 12 Bat Kids per season which means Bat Kids usually volunteer 1-2 days per week. We ask that families are able to commit to the team 1-2 days per week during the summer. If you are interested in your child being a Bat Kid for the 2025 season please contact us between January-April 2025. Thank you, and go Gatemen!

Franchises are required to provide two (2) batboys/batgirls (BB/BG) for all home and away contests during regular season and playoff games. BB/BG should come to the fields of play prepared and ready to take part in preparing the team for play.

All BB/BG need to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times when representing their team during the Cape League season. BB/BG should refrain from using cell phones during games, eat prior to or after games, limit their interactions with family, friends or spectators during the game, pay close attention to the game and be aware of their surroundings at all times.

All BB/BG are to dress in a team-issued top and follow the individual team’s dress code for bottoms, hats, cleats, etc.

BB/BG should be at least ten (10) years old prior to the start of the regular Cape League season. Individual teams can use their own discretion if they deem an individual mature enough to handle BB/BG responsibilities.

All BB/BG will abide by any and all safety rules set forth in this manual as it pertains to helmets, screens and overall well-being of anyone on the field of play.
