It’s that time of the summer. The 2026 Cape Cod Baseball League Playoffs, presented by Reader’s Hardware Supply, begin today as the Bourne Braves take on the Falmouth Commodores. The two-seed Braves will host the three-seed Commodores today at Doran Park, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. ET. The Braves will look to put their seven-game losing streak to end the regular season behind them, while the Commodores enter the matchup looking for a first-round upset.

Last Time Out - Bourne
Bourne’s disastrous end of the regular season came to a close on Sunday with a 4-3 loss to Cotuit. The Braves managed to build an early 3-0 lead, powered by RBI hits from Ryker Waite (Vanderbilt) and Cam Papetti (Bryant). As Bourne looked to finally end the losing skid, Cotuit had other plans. Fighting for their playoff dreams, the Kettleers cut the Braves’ lead to one with a two-run fifth inning. Bourne maintained a lead until the bottom of the seventh, the final frame of the shortened contest. Down to their final two outs, the Kets strung together three straight hits, the last being a two-run double to walk-off the Braves.
Last Time Out - Falmouth
In a game that didn't mean anything for their playoff seed, the Commodores ended the regular season with a seven-inning loss to the Orleans Firebirds. Falmouth got out to an early two-run lead with a pair of RBI base hits. They would maintain that lead until the fifth, when the Firebirds took control of the game. Orleans put up a four-run rally in the frame, and added two runs in the sixth to give them what would end as a 6-3 win.
Previous Matchups
The two teams split their five-game season series, 2-2-1. After a tie in their first game, each team picked up two wins, with Falmouth picking up a victory in their most recent matchup.
Player to Watch - Bourne
For the Braves to break their losing streak and make a deep playoff run, their offense is going to need to step up. If it does, expect Ryker Waite (Vanderbilt) to lead the charge. The second-year Brave comes into the postseason with hits in five of his last six games. Bourne fans will remember that in last year’s championship run, Waite stepped up in a big way. The shortstop had hits in five of the Braves’ eight playoff games last season, including two hits in four runs scored in their championship-clinching win over Y-D.
Player to Watch - Falmouth
The Commodores relied on mid-season additions to carry them to a playoff berth, with Tommy Harrison (Miami-OH) as arguably the most important. Falmouth’s utilityman started the season in the MLB Draft League with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, batting .265 over 22 games. Once Harrison joined the Commodores in mid-July, his production only increased. In only 11 games with Falmouth, Harrison hit .300 with an OPS of .914 and two home runs.
