Meggers named Cape League Player of the Week for July 20-26

Bourne Braves catcher Chase Meggers (Oregon), along with Wareham Gatemen right-handed pitcher Patrick Galle (Mississippi), has been named Cape Cod Baseball League Player of the Week, presented by Del Mar Vacation Rentals, for the week of July 20-26, the league announced Monday.

Meggers was a model of consistency at the plate this past week, recording a hit in all four games he played in. During that stretch, he accrued seven hits, three doubles and a triple to go with four RBI in 15 at-bats. His best performance of the week easily came on July 21 against the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, when he went 3-for-4 in addition to a triple and RBI.

Making his Braves debut on July 17 in Chatham, Meggers has had a torrid start to his CCBL career, slashing .375/.385/.583 with a .968 OPS in six contests. While he’s only played as a backstop and designated hitter with Bourne, he can also play the outfield, as he did with the Ducks this past spring.

Meggers is the second Brave to earn Player of the Week honors. Chris Stanfield (LSU) earned the same honor for the week of July 6-11.
