On Saturday morning, eight Bourne Braves were named to the 2026 Cape League All-Star Game’s West Division team. Braves field manager Scott Landers will manage the West team, as the position is awarded to the division-leading managers.
The All-Star game will take place on Saturday, July 18, at Whitehouse Field, home of the Harwich Mariners. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. ET.
Let’s take a look at the players representing the Braves:
Andrew Costello, Catcher
Unsurprisingly, the 19-year-old Brave was selected as the West Division’s starting catcher. Andrew (South Carolina) started the season smoking hot, and has cooled off very little since then. The Braves’ catcher is batting .348 this season, the highest batting average among qualified hitters in the CCBL. Andrew also has the second-most doubles (5) and third-highest OPS (.945) in the league this summer.
Luke Costello, Outfielder
Luke (South Carolina) is joining his brother in the starting lineup. After appearing in one game for the Braves in 2025, Luke returned for the 2026 season and has made the most out of his opportunity. The Braves’ outfielder has been an extra base hit machine, recording a league-high 10 doubles this summer. Luke is also among the league leaders in RBI (16, T-2nd) and OPS (.879, 6th).
Blake Schaaf, Shortstop
Schaaf (Wake Forest), selected as the West’s starting shortstop, has been the definition of consistency with Bourne this season. The Braves’ infielder has appeared in 20 games this summer and had hits in all but four of them, leading to a .286 batting average. Schaaf also has three triples this season, tied with teammate Matt Bolton for the most in the league.
Jackson Kircher, Right-Handed Pitcher
When Kircher (Arkansas) has come out of the bullpen for Bourne this season, opposing teams have yet to score. Through six appearances, the righty has thrown nine innings without allowing a hit. Kircher has also been stingy with allowing baserunners, boasting a 0.67 WHIP that ranks fifth among pitchers with at least six appearances.
Ben Dean, Right-Handed Pitcher
Another member of the impressive Braves’ bullpen, Dean (Duke) earned his first CCBL All-Star nod. Also appearing in six games, he has an 0.82 ERA over 11.0 innings of work. Dean’s best performance came in his most recent outing against Orleans. The Braves’ reliever threw a season-high three innings, allowing no hits and keeping the Firebirds off the scoreboard.
Nick Robert, Right-Handed Pitcher
Robert (Miami) rounds out the All-Star pitcher selections for the Braves. Over five outings, the rising senior has a 1.04 ERA and 0.69 WHIP in 8.2 innings. His best outing came on June 19 against Falmouth, when he threw 2.1 innings with five strikeouts and only one hit allowed.
Rustan Rigdon, Utility
Appearing in 20 games for the Bravos this season, Rigdon (Vanderbilt) earned a reserve spot in the All-Star game. The Braves utilityman has a perfect fielding percentage at three different positions this summer: Second base, left field and center field. His biggest moment of the season came on July 4, when he walked off the Wareham Gatemen with an RBI single.
Matt Bolton, Outfielder
After a stellar first half of the year, Bolton (Binghamton) was selected to the All-Star game as a reserve outfielder. The Bravos’ outfielder was hot at the plate to start the season, batting .341 with a .953 OPS in the month of June. Bolton has been the everyday center fielder in Bourne as well, making only one error on the season.
