The Bourne Braves have a chance to become back-to-back champions of the Cape Cod Baseball League on home turf tonight. The Braves will take on the Harwich Mariners in Game 2 of the CCBL Championship Series. Harwich, the winners of the East Division, hope to flip the script and hand Bourne its first loss of the playoffs. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. ET.

Last Time Out - Game 1
Though they got off to a shaky start, the Braves handled business in Game 1 at Whitehouse Field. It looked like it might be the Mariners’ day early, as Harwich exploded for a three-run second inning to take an early lead. That hype would be short-lived as the Braves started a comeback. RBI hits from Ryker Waite (Vanderbilt) and Rustan Rigdon (Vanderbilt) brought Bourne within a run, and a three-run sixth inning gave them the lead. The Mariners weren’t able to gain any momentum on offense as the Braves’ bullpen locked them down, and Braves’ pinch-hitter Eliot Medlock (Quinnipiac) put the game away with a ninth-inning two-run double.
Player to Watch - Bourne
A possible hero for the Braves in Game 2 could be Matt Bolton (Binghamton). Bourne’s everyday outfielder has only batted .190 this postseason, but has come up in big moments for the Braves all year. Bolton was a strong hitter to begin the summer, but has really found his power as of late with four home runs in his last 11 games.
Player to Watch - Harwich
Hoping to save their season, the Mariners will start Bryan Matuschat on the mound in Game 2. The righty out of Sacred Heart was named the organization’s best pitcher this summer, and the stats back it up. Matuschat has made nine appearances this season, all in relief, and has a 3.38 ERA. He is susceptible to being hit, however, having allowed 28 hits over 21.1 innings this summer.
