The Y-D Red Sox lost to the Chatham Anglers by a final score of 7-2 on Sunday night.

Brady Hamilton took the mound for Y-D against the Anglers, making his first start since being named the East Division’s All-Star Game starter. The right-hander continued his fantastic season, throwing 4.1 strong innings.

One of Hamilton’s greatest strengths is his command, which was on full display Sunday as he didn’t issue a single walk. On top of that, he recorded a season-high six strikeouts and allowed just one earned run, lowering his ERA to 1.21.

Duke Stone (Mississippi State) was fantastic for Chatham, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. He struck out five and lowered his season ERA to 2.31.

Dean Carpentier drove in Y-D’s only two runs, launching his third home run of the season to left-center field. The blast traveled 392 feet and left his bat at 101 mph. Carpentier recorded two hits against the Anglers, raising his season OPS to .948.

Noah Bentley, a freshman from Weatherford College, made his debut for Y-D, tossing 1.2 innings and striking out two.

Chatham’s pitching staff allowed just four hits on the night, issuing only two walks as well. Y-D has an off day on Monday before facing Hyannis on Tuesday.
