What a week for the Mariners. After losing to Falmouth on Monday, Harwich won five games in a row. The offense’s back-to-back nights of scoring double-digits were among the best performances all season. The two mercies could not have happened without the pitching staff returning to dominate form.

At the end of every week, we will take a look back at the best performances from the Harwich Mariners.

Without further ado, here are the three stars from the sixth week of the season:

3. Scott Doran, relief pitcher

Have to include at least one pitcher on the list. The pitching staff did well as a whole, but Doran’s three innings against Orleans were crucial. The Mariners held just a one-run lead against a team that had three comeback wins in the week.

The reliever from Coastal Carolina had his curveball working, striking out five. He allowed just a single that was erased by a “strike ‘em out, throw ‘em out” double play in the eighth to set up Christian Rodriguez in the ninth.

2. Niko Brini, outfield

It’s great to see Brini turning a corner as the regular season nears the end. He’s finally seeing line drives fall and taking advantage, leading the teams with four doubles this week. With Tre Broussard gone, Brini has taken over center field and is making remarkable catches every night.

His .962 OPS was the best on the team during the week while his .364 average trailed just Tanner Marsh.

1. Aiden Robbins, outfield

It is a curiosity why teams keep throwing Robbins fastballs over the plate. He simply doesn’t miss. For the second time this summer, he hit a home run in back-to-back games. His shot against Orleans proved to be the difference in the win.

The outfielder has dominated since arriving on the Cape, his six home runs are tied for second in the league while his .956 OPS is the highest.
