The Brewster Whitecaps traveled to Whitehouse Field to face the Mariners for their fourth meeting this season. Harwich is coming off a big win at Red Wilson Field where they defeated the first-place Y-D Red Sox or beat the league-leading Y-D Red Sox, behind a superb performance from starting pitching Brady Miller.

The Harwich Mariners have met their match with the Brewster Whitecaps midway through the season. Brewster has only let the Mariners score two runs combined in their first three meetings. Harwich’s only two runs came in the beginning of the first matchup with the Whitecaps and has yet to score a run in the last 21 innings the two teams have played.

Debuts

Harwich fans were able to see two 2026 season debuts from last season's fan-favorite Nico Brini and starting pitcher Tommy Martin, a University of Maine product.

Martin posted a 6.43 ERA over 35 innings with 33 strikeouts this season.

Brini played in 32 games for the Mariners in the 2025, posting a .233 batting average in 120 at-bats.

"It's awesome, man. I've been waiting for this all summer, so it's great to finally be back," said Brini.

Brini made sure his return was special after making two insane grabs in the first two frames. The first one came after Brewster's Jamie Laskofski poked a ball to shallow left field. Brini sprinted to quickly falling fly ball and laid out to make the highlight play grab.

"Yeah, we saw it off the bat, and that comes from our BP earlier today, noticing the wind pattern was coming out pretty heavy, so I knew I was going to have a chance on it. Micah gave me a great call, yelling the whole time, and the ball hung up just enough for me to get there," said Brini.

In the top of the second inning Brewster’s Brody DeLamielleure launched a ball to deep right field. Brini was tracking the deep fly ball and twisted his body to reach back and make the impressive grab.

The Whitecaps struck first on a Cash Strayer two-run home run to right field in the top of the second inning. Harwich would battle back in the bottom of the second when Cade Kurland stole home after a wild pitch. Kurland led off the inning with a routine double.

Brewster would score their next two runs off of a fielder's choice and bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to take a 4-1 lead. In the top of the eighth with a runner on second, Brewster’s Owen Jenkins pushed a ball to deep right field and hustled out a triple to score another run.

A Michael Torres RBI single extended the Whitecaps lead to 6-1. The last run of the day was in Harwich’s favor when Brayden Jaksa laced an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut the deficient to 6-2.

Mariners Stranded

The Mariners have only put up four total runs in the first four meetings against the Whitecaps. The third-highest scoring offense in the Cape League has yet to figure out how to score against Brewster. The Mariners tonight left 15 runners on base and loaded the bases twice.
