Yarmouth-Dennis earned the President Trophy after its win at home against Chatham last night, which is given to the CCBL team with the best regular season record. Y-D, now at 24-10-4, sits with a league-high 52 points. The team with the second-most points is the Hyannis Harbor Hawks (22-14-2) at 46. By earning the President Trophy, Y-D has now clinched home field advantage throughout the entire playoffs including the championship series if Y-D is able to make it there. After the results of last night, Harwich (15-23) jumped Orleans (14-23) to swipe the #3 seed and move Orleans back to the #4 seed after the Mariners beat the Firebirds at Eldredge Park 5-4. As of today, Y-D would face the Orleans Firebirds in the first round single elimination playoff game. Orleans has been one of the few teams to consistently be able to shut down the Y-D offense, as the Red Sox sit with a .217 team batting average against the Firebirds and have averaged just seven hits and five runs a contest against it. Y-D is 3-2 on the season against Orleans, but has lost two out of the last three and lost those two games by a combined score of 17-5. Orleans does have a game in hand over Harwich and Brewster, so the three-team race for the final two playoff spots is still very open.
