The Cape Cod Baseball League announced its rosters for the All-Star Game on Saturday, with Y-D set to have five representatives. In addition to those five players, Scott Pickler will manage the East Division squad.
Brady Hamilton and Dean Carpentier will both start in the game, while Tyler Pitzer, Dominic Desch and Yomar Carreras will serve as reserves.
RHP - Brady Hamilton
Hamilton has been selected to start the All-Star Game for the East Division. He’s been outstanding for Y-D this summer, posting a 1.00 ERA — the second-best among qualified starting pitchers in the CCBL. He has also issued just four walks over 18 innings of work.
He’ll have the privilege of starting for the East Division on familiar ground at Red Wilson Field, the home of Y-D.
“It’s an honor to be in that starting lineup,” Hamilton said.
1B - Dean Carpentier
Carpentier has been one of the most impressive offensive stories for Y-D thus far. He hit home runs on back-to-back days in early July, continuing his hot start to the month. The sophomore was a key catalyst during Y-D’s nine-game winning streak. His .848 OPS and .500 slugging percentage both lead the active roster.
RHP - Tyler Pitzer
A lockdown arm for Pickler in the Y-D bullpen, Pitzer owns a 0.57 ERA — the best in the entire CCBL. He’s averaging over 12 strikeouts per nine innings, using a lively fastball and a wicked slider to put hitters away. An underrated aspect of Pitzer’s game has been his ability to provide length, with recent outings lasting longer than most of his appearances during his sophomore year in college.
RHP - Dominic Desch
Desch has allowed just one run over 11 innings of work this summer, striking out 11 while issuing only three walks. He’s averaging just under 15 pitches per inning, making him one of the most efficient arms on the Y-D staff.
INF - Yomar Carreras
Whether he's in the field or at the plate, Carreras has been turning heads this summer. He’s played outstanding infield defense, highlighted by several impressive double plays. Offensively, his .298 batting average and 17 hits both lead the Y-D lineup.
The All-Star Game will be held on July 19 at Red Wilson Field, the home of the Y-D Red Sox.
