The Y-D Red Sox won their eighth straight game on Saturday evening, highlighted by six stolen bases. Aggressiveness on the base paths has been a key factor in Y-D’s success this year, and Saturday was no different. After taking an early lead, a three-run ninth inning propelled them to yet another electric victory, extending their winning streak once again.

Brayden Dowd got the offense going right away, taking the fifth pitch he saw into center field for a leadoff single. After reaching first, he recorded Y-D’s first stolen base of the night. Cody Miller followed with a single, and Chris Hacopian added a sacrifice fly to open the scoring. Miller then stole second base, setting up a four-pitch walk to Will Gasparino. Immediately after, Miller and Gasparino executed a double steal, creating even more chaos on the bases.

Brayden Randle (MISS) led off the bottom of the first with a walk, then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Levi Clark (UT) brought him home with a groundout, tying the score at one apiece.

After drawing a walk in the second inning, Jake Bold stole second base for his first stolen base of the season. Cody Miller led off the third with a double and immediately stole third, marking his third stolen base of the evening. Garrett Wright followed with a walk, and Will Gasparino was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Yomar Carreras then doubled into the left-field gap, driving in two runs to give Y-D a 3–1 lead.

Clark continued to be at the center of the action for Wareham, tripling to left field and scoring soon after on a wild pitch. Landon Stripling (UF) singled with two outs in the fifth, representing the tying run. Randle followed with a double down the right-field line, but Y-D’s defense had other plans. Garrett Wright and first baseman Dean Carpentier executed a perfect relay, with Jake Bold applying the tag to cut down Stripling at the plate.

Stripling doubled in the bottom of the eighth and scored the game-tying run on a wild pitch. Derek Schaefer escaped the jam without allowing any further damage, sending the game into the ninth tied at 3–3.

The ninth inning was a hectic one for Y-D. Jack Bell walked to start things off, advancing to second base when Miller reached on an error. After working the count to 3-0, Hacopian was hit by a pitch to load the bases. One pitch later, Wright was plunked to bring in a run. Gasparino capped off his fantastic night with a two-run single, reaching base all five times that he went to the plate.

Those three runs were exactly what Y-D needed, as Derek Schaefer and Dominic Desch closed things out in the bottom of the ninth. After Brady Hamilton allowed just two runs over five innings, Schaefer delivered 3.2 innings of one-run ball, giving the rest of the bullpen the night off. Desch needed only two pitches to finish the inning, earning his first save of the season.

After a chaotic win in Wareham, Y-D will head home to face the Hyannis Harbor Hawks on Sunday, with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. at Red Wilson Field.
